Why did Lana Del Ray's cover anger Nirvana fans?

OK, we did not see this one coming. We generally love hearing Nirvana covers. We especially enjoy ones that are surprising, different or interesting. So when we heard Lana Del Ray's cover for 'Heart shaped box' we found it refreshing. But boy, when we posted it on out Tik Tok did things get heated fast. Avid Nirvana fans commented on her ruining it and it being 'the worst cover.' It's clear that removing the song from its rock origins did not sit well with those Nirvana fans.

To be fair, Lana performed the song live and if they would have listened to the full cover they may have had a different opinion - the chorus is powerful contrasting the quiet beginning. Listen to it and make up your own minds. It reminded us of a Bond theme songs and as we said, we love a new twist on things, so thank you Lana!
