Or alternatively, when Kurt Cobain made a dig at the Rolling Stone magazine. Mark Seliger, the photographer who took that iconic Nirvana cover shot for Rolling Stone in 1992, had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to get out of it.
He asked Kurt Cobain to wear a blank T-shirt for the shoot, but Kurt had other plans.
According to an interview Mark gave to Edward Siddons in the guardian, he actually asked Kurt's band members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic if they could ask Kurt to wear a T-shirt without writing or slogans on it.
But that request backfired on Mark, as Kurt had his own response in mind.
Kurt Cobain showed up with a white T-shirt and a hand written slogan on it — Corporate magazines still suck — and judging by the image, it was so good that even Rolling Stone couldn't pass on it.
